Terms of Service
Pip's Word Pairs is published by Chenglin Wu and operated under the CoolMio brand. A parent or legal guardian should review these Terms for a child who uses the app.
1. The App
Pip's Word Pairs helps children ages 4–8 recognize English words by matching pictures with words, hearing pronunciation, reviewing due words, and building a local collection. Two word packs are available without purchase. Additional current and future ordinary word packs require an annual subscription or Lifetime purchase.
2. Subscriptions and Purchases
Annual subscription
The annual plan auto-renews. Eligible subscribers may receive the free trial shown by Apple. Payment is charged to the purchaser's Apple Account at confirmation and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Lifetime purchase
Lifetime is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks current and future ordinary word packs for the lifetime of the app. It does not renew.
Manage, restore, and refund
Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Use Restore Purchases in the app for an eligible entitlement on the same Apple Account. Restoring purchases does not restore local learning progress. Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.
3. Acceptable Use
You may use the app for personal, family, or classroom learning. You may not unlawfully reverse engineer the app, redistribute or resell its content, circumvent purchases, or violate another person's rights.
4. Intellectual Property
Branding, interface, software, original illustrations, audio, and learning content are owned by or licensed to the publisher. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them under these Terms.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. The app has no account, advertising, analytics, social features, or cloud storage of children's learning data.
6. Third-Party Services
Apple provides distribution and payments. RevenueCat provides purchase verification and entitlement management. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to those services.
7. Availability and Changes
We may improve, add, remove, or discontinue features or content. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free operation or compatibility with every future device and iOS version.
8. Disclaimers
The app is an educational practice aid, not a guarantee of a reading outcome or a substitute for professional educational assessment. To the maximum extent allowed by law, it is provided “as is” and “as available.”
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, total direct liability will not exceed the amount paid in the 12 months before the claim. Non-waivable consumer rights remain unaffected.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may restrict access after a material violation of these Terms, subject to applicable law.
11. Governing Law and Consumer Rights
Subject to mandatory consumer law where the user resides, these Terms are governed by California law. Nothing limits non-waivable local consumer rights. Contact us before formal proceedings so both sides can try to resolve the issue in good faith.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms as the app, purchases, or requirements change. The Last Updated date identifies the current version.
